Our “Heroes” and the “Father” Theme

One of the major themes of The Destiny Saga is that of the absence of father figures in our lives. This “syndrome” seems have a major effect on children and how they see the world. There are many fathers who abandoned their children in The Destiny Saga, and the three main characters that  are pictured above have story arcs that are affected by this painful theme.

They are still our heroes though and part of the saga is dependant on how they survive the trials that are thrown at them in spite of not having that paternal guidance.

Prince Torell Destine, Rachel Fairs and Prince Rampage will have to stand together (and on their own) if the universe is to be saved. The question is: why are their fathers so important?

The Four Different Eras of the Destiny Saga

In The Destiny Saga, there are four different eras that have their very own stylistic flavor and (hopefully) their own unique art styles. The different eras are as follows:

The LinkeraChaos Era:

A quasi-biblical like setting where humans, angels, and demons are struggling with moral complexities. Takes place in the B.C. timeline on Earth.

The First Elite Era:

This era has an Arthurian meets advanced technology type of feel to it with a subtle dash of super heroics. This is where the Secondary Realms enter the story. These stories take place mostly off of Earth.

The Second Elite Era:

This storyline takes place in modern times (mostly in the 90’s ). The main characters are somehow related to the main characters of the previous era, The Elite. The Elite were three people who fought off the residual damage to the universe that was left by Chaos, the main villain of The Destiny Saga.

The Carmen Era:

This era is mainly focused on Carmen Morales, a woman who is related to a few of the characters from The Second Elite Era. Her story takes place around 2014 and this setting has more of an advanced technological feel to it. Carmen’s adventures (and her supporting cast of characters individual storylines) have a stronger flavor of humor and camaraderie than any of the previous eras.

The Sadistic Harlequins and the “Devotion” Theme

I guess one of the major issues these days (at least in the personal sense) is whether or not the concept of monogamy is outdated. I think one of the most important parts of our society is this concept of Romantic Love.

We all have our individual expectations of what we want in our significant others. But what we all forget sometimes is that we have to inherit the baggage that comes with allowing someone into our personal lives.

The marriage of  Tigra and Panthra Harlequin (better known collectively as The Sadistic Harlequins) explores what happens when tragedy enters the Romantic Love situation and how it either makes their marriage stronger or completely destroys it.

The “Alanis Morissette” Influence

We now come to the Feminist part of The Destiny Saga. I’ve already expressed my appreciation for the music of Public Enemy, The Go! Team, M.I.A. and Megadeth, but alongside Mr Chuck D himself, we come to my other favorite lyricist of all time: Alanis Morissette.

If Chuck D represents my masculine side, then Alanis represents my feminine side. Her music allows my to relate to women somehow (even though I have no clue how you ladies think).  One of my characters, Karen Weathers, has Alanis as her favorite music artist of all time. I found it important to have a serious representation of women installed in the story to not have it be overly male dominated (I’ll try my best to do you ladies justice 🙂 )

This brings me to one of my favorite songs of all time…

I don’t want to analyse this song too much, but I will say if you listen to the words and what she is implying about the nature of God, this song pretty much falls in line with the nature of existence. I’ll just leave it at that.

I hope with this being the last of my major musical influences on this little universe of mine, that you have a better idea of just how non traditional in tone this epic of mine will be executed. I just want people to enjoy something distinctive and not cookie cutter.

At least that is what my heart hopes will come across…
