The “Alanis Morissette” Influence

We now come to the Feminist part of The Destiny Saga. I’ve already expressed my appreciation for the music of Public Enemy, The Go! Team, M.I.A. and Megadeth, but alongside Mr Chuck D himself, we come to my other favorite lyricist of all time: Alanis Morissette.

If Chuck D represents my masculine side, then Alanis represents my feminine side. Her music allows my to relate to women somehow (even though I have no clue how you ladies think).  One of my characters, Karen Weathers, has Alanis as her favorite music artist of all time. I found it important to have a serious representation of women installed in the story to not have it be overly male dominated (I’ll try my best to do you ladies justice 🙂 )

This brings me to one of my favorite songs of all time…

I don’t want to analyse this song too much, but I will say if you listen to the words and what she is implying about the nature of God, this song pretty much falls in line with the nature of existence. I’ll just leave it at that.

I hope with this being the last of my major musical influences on this little universe of mine, that you have a better idea of just how non traditional in tone this epic of mine will be executed. I just want people to enjoy something distinctive and not cookie cutter.

At least that is what my heart hopes will come across…
